Chapter History

Grace Davis High School opened it’s doors in the fall of 1961. The schools first principal was Bob Taylor. The First agriculture teachers at the school were Homer Bowen and Hal Carleton. Present day has two instructors teaching classes in the field of agriculture.

The agriculture program is a strong program that has generated at least one state officer in every decade since the school opened. The program is diverse and teaches a variety of classes meeting academic, district, and UC California credits.

A school farm was established on Snyder Road which at that time was in the middle of the country. In the 1980’s the school farm was moved to the corner of Ladd and Tully Roads. The school Farm sits on 5 acres which is on a 100 year lease from Modesto Irrigation District. The school farm can house swine, sheep, goat, poultry, heifer, and steer projects.
